Cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The Chinese Academy of Sciences is the largest research institution in China. For more than ten years Carl Duisberg Centren has been conducting qualification programs for Chinese scientists and employees of research institutions on behalf of the CAS.

Seminars and workshops on the topic of research management and research funding/financial management are organized for delegations of experts of the CAS. Furthermore subject-specific excursions to Europe’s renowned research institutions are part of the program.

There, scientists are appreciated cooperation partners. Often ideas for common research projects are the result of the exchange between the Chinese and European colleagues.

On the one hand the programs of the CAS are designed for executive scientists who want to learn more about the management of research institutions in the course of three-week visitor programs. Therefore the participants visit leading universities and numerous research institutions within the large German science community (e.g. Max-Planck-Gesellschaft or Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft).

Another regular program organized by the CAS is designed for executives and employees in the financial administration of Chinese research institutes. In seminars and subject-specific visits they learn more about different aspects of research funding.

The program aims at promoting management competences of Chinese executive scientists as well as the introduction of specific knowledge in the field of financial management in research institutions. Another important aspect of our visitor programs is the direct exchange between scientists of different areas of research.
