The African continent has experienced steady economic growth since the early 2000s. In fact, the agreement to establish the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is expected to stimulate economic growth in the future through the opening of new markets and better resource allocation. The increasing development of the economy also requires the ongoing development of experts and managers as well as the development of business relationships abroad.
The programs run by Carl Duisberg Centren cover further training to meet these challenges. The focus is on management and intercultural training, establishing initial business contacts as well as vocational and higher education.
Carl Duisberg Centren runs the international management training program on behalf of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), for participants in the program AFRICA IS COMING! The young African experts and managers come from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda, among other countries, and are integrated into the work processes of large German companies for around eight months.

As part of the Manager Training Programme, Carl Duisberg Centren prepares African managers specifically for business initiation and economic cooperation with German business partners. The target countries range from Egypt and Tunisia to South Africa.
Since 1977, Carl Duisberg Centren has been running a university program on behalf of the Government of Gabon. The goal is to enable students to obtain a university degree in Germany in order to subsequently work in leading positions in the economy and ministries in Gabon. Every year, Carl Duisberg Centren supports up to 200 scholarship holders from Gabon, starting with a preparatory German course and ending with the completion of their studies.

Carl Duisberg Centren was commissioned to organize 30 delegation trips comprising high-ranking experts from the Egyptian training sector. The goal of the delegation trips was to strengthen and transform vocational education and trainingin Egypt.
The program was jointly funded and commissioned by the Egyptian government and the European Union.
