The Manager Training Programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) to promote German foreign trade, especially for SMEs. This program has been in existence since 1998 and has accompanied 17,000 managers and decision-makers. The program allows participants to experience German business culture, visit German companies and expand their network through direct contact with potential German business partners.
The programme is divided into three phases: Onboarding, Training and Transfer. At the beginning, there is virtual onboarding and a two-day introductory workshop in the home country. In the training phase, there are customized seminars led by German instructors to strengthen specific management skills, followed by a two-week stay in Germany. During the stay in Germany, participants have the opportunity to visit companies and have German managers show them good business practices and state-of-the-art technologies. In addition to the company visits, participants arrange B2B meetings with their potential business partners. In the final transfer phase, participants then continue to work on implementing their collaborations and begin to change management practices in their own companies.
The programme concludes with a two-day networking event in the home country, where participants have the opportunity to interact with former participants of the program and present the results of the business collaboration and the changes made.
Through this programme, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the German work culture, expand their business network, and establish business partnerships. They receive the tools and training to effectively apply change management.
